Special Olympics

Friday was Barrow County’s Special Olympics (Track and Field events). At Kennedy, the Pre-k, fourth grade and fifth grade lined up to cheer for the kids as they loaded the buses and pulled off – it was awesome to see the school supporting us!

Each athlete at Special Olympics is paired with a high school “buddy” and we had the best buddies of them all this year!! My students all participated in the 50m dash and the Softball Throw. Everyone got at least one ribbon or medal! They did such a wonderful job 🙂 They also got their faces painted and had fun on the inflatable jumpy castle and slide. Then we had lunch and headed back to school.

I had five adults (one with each pair of students) with cameras taking pictures (in addition to myself) so that I would have lots of pictures of each kid . It’s a good thing, since my camera battery died after about 5 shots! Enjoy the pics!
