Pumpkin Seeds

Today we participated in a pumpkin seed project. Mrs. Mays cut open the pumpkins and we scooped out the insides. After playing around in the squishy goodness, we picked out all of the seeds then we counted them together as a class.

We counted seeds from four different pumpkins – one was tall, one was short, one was big and one was little.

The LITTLE pumpkin weighed less than 1 pound and had 176 seeds.

The BIG pumpkin weighed 3.2 pounds and had 610 seeds.

The FAT pumpkin weighed 11 pounds and had 360 seeds.

The TALL pumpkin weighed 21 pounds and had 547 seeds.

After we got all of the seeds out, Mrs. Mays carved the pumpkins. Then we decorated our other two pumpkins with body parts sort of like Mr. Potato Head parts! Each student got to take home their parts so they can decorate a pumpkin at home. After lunch we  had some Halloween snacks and Mrs. Mays gave us goody bags.
